SMS Preview

Posted in Nokia, OVI tagged , , , at 12:12 by misund007

Yesterday I was finally able to download from OVI store to my phone.  The App I decided to go for was SMS Preview, a free application from Mobile Nordic. When you have an incoming SMS on your phone, SMS Preview pops up a window on your phone displaying the content. The settings you can adjust is the duration of the pop-up (5-60 sec) and enable/disable.  In theory this program is a great idea, you feel your phone vibrate, you take your phone out and can see the content without doing anything else. There is a major problem with it though, whileSMSPreview_promo-192x192_ the preview is showing my phone went into complete lock-down. I had to wait for the duration that I had set before I could do anything else with it. For me this would be very annoying if I had to make a quick call, or check something. You should be able to multitask with the program running or at least shut it down. My conclusion is therefor to uninstall SMS Preview

downloading from OVI to N95

Today I tried to use the OVI store again. This time I were able to to log in and see the different applications that is available for my phone. I selected one I thought looked interesting and selected to send it to my phone. On the phone I then received a link to where the App could be downloaded. I waited and waited for the site open, but nothing happened. So it is one step closer but still no cigar.

imagesI am a happy  owner of Nokia N95, and have been so for quite some time now. On the OVI store it says that for N95 the firmware has be higher then version 3. An easy way to check what version your N95 is on, enter *#0000# like you would enter a phone number you want to call.  You should get an answer back like v31.0.017. If the first number is 3, then you are okay to download from OVI. If the number is 2 or 1, you need to upgrade your phone.

OVI store

objYesterday Nokia finally launched their OVI store, where users can download applications for their phones. The response from the users must have taken Nokia by surprise, because the site has been slow and sluggish every time I have logged on. I have been looking forward to OVI opening it’s doors, for too long Iphone fans have had their App store to talk about. Now finally us Nokia users would have something to say back. Yes Nokia have had a App store before, MOSH, but it didn’t really do the business. I hope Nokia gets the OVI store up and running properly, because I want to download and install stuff. I’ll tray to log on again tomorrow. More to come
